Auckland schools will be able to reopen today, hosting students for the first time this year.
But some will remain closed to clean up after the wild weather of the past week and won't be opening their doors until after Waitangi Day.
For some parents it's a relief to send their children to school, having been left in the lurch by late communication from the Ministry of Education this week.
Orewa College principal Greg Pierce says his school can't open until Tuesday as it deals with flooding damage, and Macleans College principal Steven Hargreaves is welcoming students back this morning.
