More rain overnight in Bay of Plenty

From Morning Report, 6:10 am on 3 February 2023

Rain has continued to fall in the Upper North Island overnight but it seems residents may have escaped the worst.

In the last 12 hours, 10 to 14 mils of rain fell across parts of the Bay of Plenty.

Auckland had some reprieve with less than 10 mils of rain falling in the city, and 5 to 15 mils fell throughout Northland.

There has been a minor slip in Albany on the North Shore.

And further south,  Fire and Emergency says six houses have been evacuated in Kopu Tauaki Bay in the Coromandel after a slip blocked a stream.

Tauranga City commissioner Anne Tolley spoke to Kim Hill.
