If the weather's not enough for those in the north, Waikato residents were rudely awakened by an earthquake which struck at 2am this morning.
The magnitude 4.8 quake was centred 5-kilometres south of Te Aroha, at a depth of 6-kilometres.
There have been no immediate reports of damage.
