MetService says all wind warnings across the North Island have now gone, but there are some warning still in place for the top of the South Island.
MetService Head of Weather Communications Lisa Murray says coastal Marlborough could see wind and rain but the swell is easing.
She says the region should expect showers - these won't be as strong as those in the North Island but people should say alert and take care on the roads.
Murray says there is a concern about a flick of a tail end of Gabrielle as it brings a front up the country.
It could mean downpours, including 30 to 50 millimetres of rain in Hawkes Bay.
