Cyclone Gabrielle is well off the coast of the country but her tail is coming back to flick up parts of the South and North islands.
Metservice is forecasting isolated showers across the North Island, with localised downpours possible around the Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, and Hawke's Bay.
More heavy rain is expected for Wellington and Wairarapa.
