In Wairarapa, 2000 people who had been cut off after significant slips across the roading network, have now been reached by the Defence Force.
At least 25 homes and one school have been damaged in high floodwaters.
The defence force yesterday delivered two days worth of food and essentials to cut off settlements on the Wairarapa coast, and cellphone reception is back up and running.
