Work to repair the extensive damage to roads throughout the North Island, Te Ika-a-Māui, is making progress.
Sections of six highways in Hawkes Bay and Tai Rāwhiti remain completely closed, while State Highway Two between Gisborne and Wairoa is open during daylight hours.
