Climate minister on paying other countries to cut NZ emissions

The government's still made no moves on how to pay other countries to cut our emissions for us, despite that being the main way for the country to meet our Paris climate pledge. Two-thirds of our reductions to meet our 2030 goal will have to come from overseas offsets, which Treasury estimates will cost up to $12.8b. New Zealand got badly burnt in the 'hot-air' credits scandal from a decade ago, which saw us buy fraudulent carbon credits from the likes of Ukraine and Russia. Climate Change Minister James Shaw spoke to Corin Dann.
