Auckland residents in the suburb of Papakura are concerned about chemical spillage affecting their properties after a truck explosion yesterday on the Southern Motorway.
The truck was carrying gas canisters and other chemicals, and exploded into fire, forcing some people to evacuate their homes.
Auckland Council's Environmental Health specialists have been visiting affected homeowners offering advice.
They say an oily residue that has appeared on some properties is most likely to be canola oil.
