A Retail New Zealand report shows it's been a challenging start to the year across the sector, with atrocious weather just part of the problem.
The report shows nearly half of retailers failed to meet their expected sales targets from January to March, with those in the North Island hit hardest.
And the outlook for the next three months isn't promising either.
