The Agriculture Minister, Damien O'Connor, says the National Party's proposed 'Getting back to farming' policies would be a "backward step".
National unveiled a list of 19 proposals yesterday, such as banning foreign investment in carbon mining on former farm land, doubling the RSE worker cap, and a two-for-one regulation system where for every new rule, two would be scrapped.
Mr O'Connor said that last idea was "ridiculous," and he spoke to Corin Dann.
