The latest inflation figures are due out later today, and economists aren't expecting a dramatic change from the current 7.2 percent figure.
Analysis in the New Zealand Herald suggests people are now $5,000 worse off, on average, than they were at the beginning of 2021.
Things are only expected to get worse with inflation likely to remain high.
