Jono Ridler hasn't stopped swimming since 10 o'clock Tuesday morning and won't until Wednesday night.
The west-Auckland athlete has set himself the record-breaking task of open water swimming 100km with no breaks - taking about 35 hours.
New Zealand's current record sits at 80.8km.
Mark Lenaarts is the lead observer monitoring the swim and spoke with Ingrid Hipkiss.
