Haka was given a financial boost in the budget. The biennial Kapa Haka Festival, Te Matatini received its biggest increase in funding since it first started 50 years ago.
It is a part of the government's "no frills" budget with an overall total of $825 million going towards Māori arts, education, health, justice, media and housing.
Kapa Haka performers and fans around the motu are thrilled about the extra putea.
