Police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann 16 years ago will begin searching a remote reservoir in Portugal overnight tonight (NZT).
The search of the Arade dam, 50 kilometres from where the three-year-old went missing while on holiday in Praia da Luz in 2007, has been requested by German police.
It is understood the area was frequented by the prime suspect in her disappearance, Christian Brueckner, at the time when Madeleine went missing while asleep in her bed.
