A $33 million dollar budget hole is pressing Victoria University to consider axing up to 260 of its staff.
Vice-chancellor Nic Smith has told employees that up to 110 academic jobs and 150 general jobs are at risk.
It says a 12 percent drop in enrolments and ballooning financial strain are to blame for the cuts.
