Ill treatment of a kiwi at Miami Zoo sparked outrage this week, now the Department of Conservation and a private sanctuary are under investigation here at home.
The Cape Sanctuary in Hawke's Bay had offered tourists a hands on experience with the birds, and has been included in several DOC investigations - sparked by concerns about the number of kiwi deaths there.
Now, a new report is expected to get to the bottom of it.
