The Children's Commissioner is imploring police not to pursue young drivers.
The police commissioner, Andrew Coster, announced the change to the pursuit policy on the back of a large increase in offenders racing away from police.
The police association says more people will likely die as a result of the change.
The Children's Commissioner, Judge Frances Eivers, spoke to Craig McCulloch.
