Parents who were looking to return to work because of cheaper early childhood education fees through a government subsidy may now need to rethink their plans.
As part of last month's Budget, the government extended 20 hours' free ECE to two-year-olds, from March next year.
But now it's walked back on a condition requiring early childhood centres to offer enrolments for 20 hours only, if requested.
