Luxon on surgery waitlists, wife's Tesla

From Morning Report, 7:47 am on 21 June 2023

The Green Party has accused the opposition of whipping up racism over a tool which prioritises surgery waitlists, partly based on ethnicity.

The tool looks at clinical priority, time on the wait list, rural isolation, deprivation, and ethnicity - priorising Māori and Pasifika over other ethnicities.

Green Party co-leader Marama Davidson was ejected from the house when she refused to apologise after saying questions being asked were intended to raise racist opinions.

National's health spokesperson, Dr Shane Reti, a Māori man, had been questioning the Health Minister, as had several Māori members of the ACT Party.

National Party leader Christopher Luxon spoke to Corin Dann.
