The small, West Otago town of Tapanui woke at the weekend to one of the biggest dumps of snow in years.
Between 18 and 20 centimetres fell over Otago, Southland and Clutha and left Tapanui without power for most of Sunday morning.
Vaughn Wesselson, a local butcher and business owner, thinks it was probably colder outside than in his meatlocker.
