For the past 30 years the bulk of the international sports coverage has not been available on free-to-air television.
Prime TV has played some sports free to air either live or delayed, including the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and the Rugby World Cup.
Now there's set to be even more free to air sport, with TVNZ picking up major international sport once again - including cricket, netball, athletics, and basketball.
