Changes needed to compulsory mental health treatment

Te Hiringa Mahara, the Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission, is calling for an end to enforced mental health treatment.

A new report shows the standard six-month-long Compulsory Community Treatment Orders leave patients unable to make informed decisions around their care. 

The orders are three times more likely to be enforced on Māori.
