Now to the US, where it is believed a soldier who was facing disciplinary action from the US military has defected to North Korea.
News that an American was in custody in North Korea broke overnight, before officials confirmed the person was a soldier.
Also in the US, former president Donald Trump says he has received a letter informing him that he is a target in special counsel Jack Smith's investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
