A beleaguered Labour Party is now urgently looking for a new East Coast candidate and a renewed focus on the election after Kiri Allan's decision to quit politics.
She'd already resigned all her ministerial portfolios after Sunday night's car crash which resulted in criminal charges.
Her departure triggered an urgent debate in Parliament yesterday with a reluctant Labour keen to move on.
National is now setting its sights on former Revenue Minister David Parker.
