A study published on Thursday has revealed a fossil discovered in New Zealand belonged to one of the largest crabs to have ever lived.
The massive, fossilised crab claw was found on Waitoetoe beach in 2008.
Dutch fossil crab expert and co-author of the study Barry van Bakel, has confirmed it was from a previously undiscovered species of large crab.
Van Bakel spoke to Corin Dann.
