The Prime Minister is heading to Australia on Tuesday to meet with his Southeast Asian counterparts.
The meetings will take place on the sidelines of an Australian summit with the region's leaders, on the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
David Capie who is the director of Victoria University's Centre for Strategic Studies says the sideline meetings are likely to be brief, but will provide Prime Minister Luxon an opportunity to introduce himself.
Capie spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
