It's an unusually hot morning in Timaru, where was 25.7 degrees right just before 7am - but it earlier hit 27.
The temperature there this morning has soared from 19 degrees at 4.30 am to 27.2 degrees at 6 am.
In the largest nearby centres, Christchurch is currently 14 degrees, while Dunedin is currently 17.
