The Government has pledged $600 million of extra Pharmac funding over the next four years to allow the agency to approve up to 26 new cancer treatments. The Health Minister Shane Reti concedes cancer patients have been in a vacuum since last month's budget when the government's pledge to fund thirteen cancer drugs did not materialise. Bowel cancer survivor Stefan Corbett is now Bowel Cancer New Zealand chair.
