Tekaumaarua chair on new Māori monarch

Kuini Nga wai hono i te po has ascended the throne of the Kiingitanga. Over the course of the tangihanga for her father, Kiingi Tuheitia who died one week ago, a group of 12 rangatira, known as Tekau-maa-rua, have conferred to decide who would succeed him and to consult with other iwi and rangatira.
