The South Island iwi Ngai Tahu is strongly defending its plan to convert two North Canterbury forests into dairy farms; A Far North Maori chief is calling for other Maori leaders to be brave - and also refer to themselves as being chiefs; In reaction, a lecturer on Maori culture says Maori leaders can choose to call themselves chiefs - its their choice; Maori are being urged to bid for funding set aside to increase the amount of social and affordable housing.
