Hear a playlist of musical highlights and appearances from this week's guests.
2–3pm
Murray Cammick remembers Graham Brazier
Former Rip it Up magazine editor and Wildside Records head honcho Murray Cammick remembers Hello Sailor's Graham Brazier, who died this week, aged 63.
Lips and Anna Coddington in Session
NYC-based synth-pop duo Lips and Anna Coddington are coming together as a three-piece for a 10-date New Zealand run, playing songs from their back catalogues and debuting unheard material. Ahead of the tour, the trio offer a first look on the format with a Music 101 session.
Father John Misty
Under the alias of Father John Misty, former Fleet Foxes drummer Joshua Tillman has stepped out solo across two critically-acclaimed LPs, 2012’s Fear Fun and his latest set, I Love You, Honeybear. Tillman talks to Music 101 about how the pseudonym freed him from his spot behind the kit to the front of the stage.
3–4pm
Garageland
Indie rock quartet Garageland has reformed for a one-off performance at The Others Way festival, readying a set list that leans on their 1996 debut, Last Exit to Garageland. Emma Smith drops in at their Auckland rehearsal space to talk about the band’s early days – and find out why they split.
Eden Mulholland in Session
For the follow-up to his 2012 solo debut Feed the Beast, local musical polymath Eden Mulholland decamped to New York to work alongside producer, Victor Van Vugt (Nick Cave, PJ Harvey), honing a collection of songs that he wrote on the fly. Equipped with an acoustic guitar and a laptop, Mulholland performs three tracks from his freshly-minted record Hunted Haunted in the Music 101 studio.
In 1992 Chapter Music begun as a cassette release to accompany a fanzine. Twenty three years later Chapter has evolved into an Australian staple, who's roster features a who's who of contemporary music. Chapter Music's Guy Blackman shares they secret to longevity with Zac Arnold.

Global Beats: Cuban Overture – Part 2
This audio is not available due to copyright restrictions, but will play again this Friday at 8:30pm on Nights, with Bryan Crump.
Cuba has an astonishing new generation of experimental musicians, eager to be heard by the wider world. DJ and producer Gilles Peterson has been travelling to Havana for the last six years in search of its best new artists. In the second of this two-part series, Peterson continues to uncover the unique music that’s made when young Cuban musicians look beyond their country to fuse worldwide influences with a distinctly Cuban sound.
Super Mario Musical Robots
Nintendo platform game Super Mario Bros. is the best-selling videogame of all time. So it’s no wonder that the Koji Kondo-composed theme is one of gaming’s most recognisable tunes, covered by the likes of orchestras, concert pianists, and even the San Diego Comic Con Cos-Play Choir. Now, Victoria University of Wellington PhD student Jason Long has built a live robotic orchestra to accompany Super Mario’s real-time game play. Yadana Saw juggles a mic and a controller to test drive this sonic-art project.
The Sampler: Masayoshi Fujita
Nick Bollinger takes a listen to a set of musical fables from the Berlin-based vibraphone master.
