1.20 Biographer on the Prince doco we won’t see
Prince is one of the few remaining 80s superstars whose story remains a mystery, yet their estate is preventing the release of a Netflix documentary.
A new edition of Prince: The Man and His Music by Matt Thorne has been released, the biography originally published in 2012 and called by many as the definitive book on the iconic musician.
Author Matt Thorne joins Charlotte Ryan to discuss his life-long pursuit of documenting Prince, and why he sides with Prince’s estate over the Netflix controversy.

Mel Parsons has been touring New Zealand’s cities and regions with the release of her album Sabotage. RNZ’s Alex Harmer captured this live set at The Piano in Christchurch.

2.45 Horomona Horo: Best known taonga pūoro practitioner becomes Arts Laureate
Horomona Horo (Ngapuhi, Ngati Porou, Taranaki), one of Aotearoa’s best known taonga pūoro practitioners, is now an Arts Laureate.
Horomona is a masterful composer and musician, known for his expertise in traditional Māori musical instruments as well as his cross-genre collaboration, working with classical, operatic, choral, pop, and hip-hop musicians, from Kiri te Kanawa to Moana and the Tribe.
Charlotte Ryan catches up with Horomona the day after he was announced as an Arts Foundation Te Tumu Toi Laureate.

Aotearoa artist Jim Nothing shares a slice of his life in a new album Grey Eyes, Grey Lynn.
Inspired by walks around the neighbourhood, the album feels super local; bicycle rides, front gardens, and the RSA.
Jim joins Charlotte to discuss the everyday magic that inspired his new music, and to get some gardening tips.

4pm - The Mixtape: Pos Maveaga on 30 years of Pacific Underground
Our guest picking the music is Pos' Mavaega, Musical Director for Pacific Underground, NZ's longest running Pacific performing arts group who are celebrating 30 years of theatre.
Pos is a writer, musician and musical director. He joined PU in 1993 and has been busy writing, recording, touring, producing, and music directing in theatres, concerts and festivals throughout the Pacific.
As a musician, Pos has toured with Che Fu and King Kapisi, and he’s worked with our top artists as a stage technician - Fat Freddies, Sol3Mio, Fat Freddy's Drop, Shihad, Stan Walker and Bic Runga.
His credits include music direction and sound design for notable productions such as 'Dawn Raids' and 'Sons'.
We catch up with Pos as the Auckland Theatre Company's production of Dawn Raids kicks off at the Wellington Opera House 23-24 October for three performances only.
