Mermaidens are back and back in style!
The Wellington band's new self-titled album Mermaidens is an exercise in indie brilliance, largely recorded with the wizardly producer Lee Prebble at Surgery Studios with the band alongside.
Mermaidens finds the band taking a DIY approach while exploring themes of "self-awareness, introspection, long-term love, and even channelling political anger and frustration".
The members say mentorship from The Phoenix Foundation's Samuel Flynn Scott also helped push them beyond their comfort zone.
Mermaidens are: Gussie Larkin,(Guitar, Vocals) Lily West (Bass, Vocals) and Abe Hollingsworth (Drums). They are joined by Louisa Nicklin (Guitar) for this session.
Mermaidens perform:
'Sour Lips'
'Foolish'
'I Like To Be Alone'
Recorded live in the RNZ Auckland studios and engineered by Andre Upston.
Mermaidens are currently touring New Zealand. Info and tickets can be found here.
