13:15 In the guest house with Georgia Lines

Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Georgia Lines has returned with singles ‘Julia’ and ‘Wonderful Life’.

Currently based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, Lines is soon to make the move to Nashville, Tennessee. Before that, her debut EP, The Guest House, will come out in August.

Charlotte Cook has a kōrero with Lines for Music 101. They chat about The Guest House and Lines’ upcoming move to Nashville.

14:10 Live on Music 101: Jed Parsons

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jed Parsons joins Charlotte Cook in the RNZ Studios to perform a collection of songs.

Based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, Parsons is currently on tour in promotion of his first kids’ album, Silly Songs for Silly Sausages.

Parsons has released two critically acclaimed albums: Midnight Feast in 2018 followed by Brunch in 2021. 

He also plays drums for Mel Parsons, who appeared on Music 101 last month for a live session.

14:40 Riiki Reid to open for Mallrat this September, releases new single

Pōneke-based singer-songwriter, choreographer and producer Riiki Reid (Ngāti Porou) has released her new single ‘Candy’, a breezy and refreshing track ‘inspired by an endless summer.’

Her February single Over Romantic went to #1 on the Hot NZ 20 Singles Chart.

Reid, having previously toured with names like as Lorde, Six60, L.A.B. and Sir Dave Dobbyn, is set to open for Mallrat this September.

She has a kōrero with Charlotte Cook about her recent milestones.

15:15 The Circling Sun’s new album, Orbits

Boundary-busting local jazz collective The Circling Sun have just released their second album Orbits and Nick Bollinger has found himself immersed in its rich rhythms and original compositions.

He talks about the album, the influences and the concept behind The Circling Sun with the group’s founder and co-leader, Julien Dyne.

16:00 The Mixtape: Martin Kwok

Martin Kwok is an Emmy award-winning sound editor, DJ and music obsessive based in Pōneke, Wellington.

Kwok worked on Peter Jackson’s Beatles documentary Get Back, as well as the soundtrack for film Dune Part Two.

In 2024 he joined Maggie Tweedie for the RNZ Mixtape, selecting seven tracks that soundtrack his life.
