VIDEO PREMIERE: Finn Andrews ‘One By The Venom’

From RNZ Music, 10:00 am on 8 March 2019

RNZ Music is proud to share this exclusive live version of Finn Andrews’ song ‘One by the Venom’, from his forthcoming solo album One Piece at a Time, which is out March 15

Finn says 'One by the Venom' belongs to a songwriting sub-genre he loves: the list song.

The song is an onslaught of doom scenarios that lists 45 different ways to die.

"I've always had a real thing about lists. This is a list of the many ways there are to meet your maker,” says Finn. “I just started writing it on the tube, and it became quite obsessive. There are another 5 or 6 verses I didn't use. The song was recorded live and has a really fierce little spirit.”

‘One by Venom’ is from Finn’s forthcoming album One Piece At A Time, which was recorded entirely live at The Lab in Auckland and engineered and co-produced by Tom Healy, Tiny Ruins’ producer.

Finn’s band includes Cass Basil on electric and upright bass, Alex Freer on drums, producer Tom on guitar, Reb Fountain and Nina Siegler on backing vocals, and Finn on vocals, piano, and guitar.

Victoria Kelly created the album’s sprawling string arrangements.

Finn is supporting the upcoming release of One Piece at a Time with an extensive national tour. Reb Fountain joins as support on all full band dates.
