RNZ Music is proud to be the first to share the new single and video from Wellington’s Nik Brinkman. ‘Open Roads’ was written long-distance between Wellington and Stockholm, with Swedish musician Emanuel Lundgren.
Nik Brinkman’s new track, ‘Open Roads’ was written between Wellington and Stockholm.
Brinkman had finished the music for the song and decided to send it to his friend and fellow musician Emanuel Lundgren (I’m From Barcelona) to see if he’d feature on it. Lundgren said yes and ‘Open Roads' was finished within a few days.
Nik met Emanuel in Stockholm, when he was on a writing trip for his previous project Junica.
The song’s about the desire to feel like a kid again and experience all the freedom and imagination of childhood.
The song’s video was shot at Nik’s uncle’s place. He says it was the quickest video he’s ever made: “It all just came together so fast, and the feeling of the visuals was perfect for the song.”
Nik is now working on a full length album to be completed later this year.
