For the best part of this decade the negotiations to bring New Zealand's copyright law into the digital age have been esoterically obscure. But attempts to update it - to deal with the growing number of illegal downloads of music and movies met fierce opposition. In the wake of innovative Internet protests, the government put the relevant clause on ice, but it's about to try to tackle this divisive issue once again.
