NZers take shelter as storm wreaks havoc
Storm conditions have produced tornadoes, power blackouts and heavy snow in various parts of the country.
Tornadoes have damaged a number of houses in the Taranaki town of Rahotu and at Tongariro National Park, near Ruapehu.
In the South Island, Snow has blanketed the high country and alpine passes and MetService says there could be more to come.
