8:25 Music Feature: @Peace live at Montecristo Room
The leftfield hip hop and future soul collective wrestle with heady subjects like time dilation, aliens, death, and determinism. The group chose Auckland’s Montecristo Room as the venue to premiere these songs in front of a hometown crowd, and Radio New Zealand engineer Andre Upston was there to capture their space-is-the-place set.

11:06 Womad 2014 Live: Femi Kuti, La Chiva Gantiva
Nigerian musician Femi Kuti is the eldest son of the late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. As band leader, saxophonist and vocalist, Femi Kuti and his big band Positive Force pulled out all the musical and visual stops to deliver a show that delighted a capacity audience with an up-tempo and colourful set of Afrobeat virtuosity.
Also featured is La Chiva Gantiva, a multi-cultural band formed in Brussels by a collection of ex-pat Columbian musicians. La Chiva Gantiva’s brand of high energy brass and percussion driven Latin rhythms provided ample explanation of why their sound has proven to be their passport to a wider audience.
