9:07 Country Life
On Country Life this week: Jo Jack runs sign-making classes for women in rural communities. She is a keen woodworker herself making rustic wooden signs of all shapes and sizes selling most of them via her Gingham Girls Facebook page. Originally, the signs were made from wood milled on her husband's 400 hectare farm but now she has started using timber from a local sawmill because demand has out-grown supply.
Also on the programme, Adrian Ball used to crank as much milk out of his dairy farm as possible. The figures were a source of pride. Then 15 or so years ago he started thinking more about the environment and making changes to his farming model. That resulted in Adrian and Pauline Ball winning the Waikato Ballance Farm Environment Award 2019.
