Later the boys bunk off from school and go to the beach where Riley is swept away and lost. As the search goes on Nico observes in shock and grief. We come to understand that Nico is as lost as his ill-fated friend... a well written and powerful story about identity or lack of it.

Auckland council has placed every beach under a black Do Not Swim advisory - due to wastewater contamination and debris.
