Chinese New Zealand composer Gao Ping composed Bitter Cold Night in honour of Dr Li Wenliang, who first raised the alarm about COVID-19 and then, tragically, became one of its first victims. Performed and filmed from home by Amalia Hall (violin) and Stephen de Pledge (piano), Bitter Cold Night is a moving tribute to bravery in a time of adversity.
