Dr Olivier Holland, from the School of Music, at the University of Auckland plays us some of the latest compositions from this semester's jazz student's. At just 19 years old, they "blew his socks off"! His teaching has moved to entirely solfege based. Solfege is a music education method used to teach aural skills, pitch and sight-reading of Western music, which he used to teach and test his students in jazz composition.
