Every Monday, here on Nights, to set the tone for the week, we like to have a guest on to share a whakataukī - a Māori proverb - that's meaningful to them.
And tonight we're hearing from Professor Tom Roa (Waikato, Ngāti Maniapoto) a man who wears many hats: academic, historian, kaumatua as well as a te reo Māori speaker, teacher, translator and champion.
He's also just worked with Dr Rodrigo Hill on an exhibition and photo book titled Ki te Kapu o Taku Ringa - In the Palm of My Hand which uses photography through a te ao Māori lens.
