He listens to gravitational waves emitted from black holes colliding with each other.
Avi is part of a number of international scientific collaborations on the signs and signals from space.
He's holding a public talk as part of Raising the Bar in Auckland next Tuesday, and he joins Emile in the Auckland studio.
