With his work spanning many different genres, disciplines and regional styles, Jonathan Crayford is considered one of New Zealand's foremost jazz pianists.
He was born in a musical family, he's been playing piano since the age of 3, and it's taken him all around the world, from Paris to New York, working with some of the biggest and brightest musicians in the jazz galaxy.
This Saturday he'll be performing in Wellington as part of the Wellington Jazz Festival, playing tunes from New York's Lower East Side underground Afro-Cuban band Mambo Macoco, which he held residency with in the 1990s.
