This evening a piece of New Zealand art history went under the hammer.
The painting Souvenirs from the Field of Battle by Charles Frederick Goldie was painted in 1890 when the artist was 20.
135 years later, it sold for $89,625 at Webb's Auction House.
It is one of Goldie's earliest works and is recognised as his first masterpiece.
