The government has announced the creation of a veterans’ day and an expanded definition of the word 'veteran'.
It comes after increased public pressure from veteran advocacy groups in recent weeks, asking the government to extend support and respect to all those who had served in the Defence Force.
Simon Strombom is a former NZ Army Major and the founder of the New Zealand Remembrance Army, one of the largest veterans' charities in the country.
