Born in Tologa Bay on the East Coast of the North Island, John Walsh is the former Curator of Contemporary Māori Art at Te Papa, the Museum of New Zealand. Now a full time artist, his work intertwines Māori mythology, history and contemporary events with satirical ire. An exhibition of his work is currently on display at The New Dowse in Lower Hutt.
